Strategy game STRABA (Basketball strategy)

STRABA (Strategy Basketball) - Strategy game for 2 players © Author HR Deml 2005
Like the indoor game of basketball, the board game STRABA is subject to rapid changes in terms of attack and defense. For some strategy players, the rapid change between attack and defense is unusual, but for those who know the game of basketball, it brings out the identity of the game. The fast attacking game can lead to basket success through long passes across the entire field and over other game figures in 2 consecutive combinations.
Game accessories: STRABA playing field, each player has 5 game pieces in the same color and generally a note sheet with a scribe, 1 game piece in a different color as a ball and 1 dice.

Rules of the game:
1. Face-off: The ball and therefore the team playing the ball is drawn first and placed on that team's game piece at the face-off point. At the start of the game, face-off after a basket or free throw, the ball must be moved alone.

2. Team formation: The team formation can be made freely by each player according to his tactics. The game only starts when both players say a clearly audible “OK”.

3. Movement options: a.) The team with the ball can move in a straight line without the ball without any limit and with the ball only 2 fields in all directions to the edge of the field or another player.
b.) The team without the ball can only move 1 field within the 3-point circle and 2 fields outside in all directions.
The blue basket field may not be occupied by the defending team. Players from both teams are considered a fixed obstacle and cannot be jumped over or thrown by another player.

4. Ball pass: The player with the ball does not move. The ball can be played in a straight line in all directions as a pass over your own and opposing players to your own player. A ball release is a play.

5. Change of rally to the opposing team: If a player from the defending team makes the next move onto a field directly adjacent to the player in possession of the ball, the ball changes to this player (with the exception of the blue field in the penalty area). This player then has the next turn.

6. Basket throw: a.) A basket throw outside the fields of the white 3-point throwing circle is possible if a player with the ball has a clear horizontal, vertical or diagonal field line to the opponent's basket on his next move.
b.) A player with the ball can pass to another player with a free line to the basket outside the 3-point shooting circle and he throws the ball into the basket (counts as one play).

- Basket shooting options within the opponent's yellow penalty area:

a.) An attacker's player is already placed in this penalty area and has a direct, free court line to the basket. The ball is passed to this player and thrown directly into the basket by him (counts as one play).
b.) The player with the ball can enter the yellow penalty area through a free line and then throw the ball in via a direct, free modified line to the basket with the same move.
- After a basket throw, the team lines up in their own half of the field and a pass is made from any field on the basket court line; the ball must be moved alone.

7. Lazy in the yellow penalty area of the defensive team: If a player of the attacking team is pressured by 2 defenders on directly adjacent fields (regardless of the formation) at the moment of receiving the ball, this is a foul and is always punished with 2 penalty throws.

8. Execution of a penalty basket throw: The fouled player stands on the red semicircle field with the ball. All other players are positioned tactically outside the penalty area. The player then rolls the dice. If he rolls one of the numbers on the line to the basket, he has thrown a basket worth 1 point. If he rolls a number wrong, the ball goes out of bounds. A face-off only takes place after the second penalty basket throw.

9. Duration of the game: The game ends (unless otherwise agreed beforehand) when a player from League 1 (beginners): has reached 30 baskets,

League 2: (Advanced) has achieved 45 baskets,

League 3: (Expert & Tournament) has reached 60 baskets.
